Ants in Chicagoland

Ants, as you probably know, live in colonies which makes them very difficult to eliminate since they all work for the good of the community.  Remember that every ant that you see represents far more of them below the surface.  Obviously, killing only the visible ants is a temporary and incomplete solution as others will be following unless they are entirely eliminated.

In order to completely eliminate these pests you need a trained professional such as A Complete Pest Solution serving the Chicago area for all of your pest control needs.  You are not looking for a temporary solution, but rather a complete solution to your ant problem.  Proper identification of the particular ant is extremely important before the extermination can begin.  We also must determine if the ant problem is one of invasion OR is there a huge colony inside of the structure.

Whether your home or business or both has an ant problem make sure that you nip it in the bud at the very first sign.  Better yet, if you have a business why not call A Complete Pest Solution today at (630) 464-1542.  Ant control and elimination should not be left to the bottom of your shoe.  Call the Chicagoland professionals at A Complete Pest Solution managed by a resident entomologist.  They take appointments any time day or night.

Are You Ready for Summer Pests?

At least we have had a taste of warmer weather and summer is on its way. With summer comes A Complete Pest Solution’s busiest time of the year. The summer months bring with it locusts, bees, wasps, and so much more.  It hasn’t been that long…you remember. There are so many destructive pests with evil intentions. They will soon be making a full on assault on your home and your property and will not rest until they have done all of the damage that they can.

What can you do to prepare for the invasion?  You can call us. A Complete Pest Solution. We are quipped to take on an invading army of pests and destroy them. We will not only rid your home or business of the unwanted intruders but we will ensure they don't return. And best of all we take appointments 24 hours a day, so we are never too busy to help you with your problem.

Summer rains and summer heat both cause pests to seek refuge in dry, cool places such as your home or business. Bees, wasps, termites and ants don't announce their return ahead of time. They suddenly show up and bring many of their friends and family with them.  Unless you stop them in the beginning they will plan on staying indefinitely. Lucky for you, we have a solution... A Complete Pest Solution serving greater Chicagoland.

No it’s not the Cubs.  They arrived in April and most people in Chicagoland welcomed their return.  Now it is May and here come the bugs.  Did you know that there are a total of 278 Illinois bugs that are listed in the insect identification database…that’s 278 different pesky insects!

These insects each have their own destructive and pesky nature.  They range from the Acorn Weevil to the Yellow Jacket and all points in between.  Did you know that the triangulate cob web spider hides in dark corners of rooms in your home?  How about the Stag Beetle?  They are located east of the Mississippi and are noted for their large size and ferocious appearance.  Of course there is always your famous small house fly that lays its eggs in animal and human feces.

Information About Carpenter Ants in Chicago.

Carpenter ants are among the largest ants in the United States, ranging from 3.4 to 13 mm long. The most common color is black, but some species have reddish or yellowish coloration. Workers have large mandibles.  Carpenter ants are not that picky they live both outdoors and indoors mostly in hollow wood. They form their nests in the wood to provide passageways for movement from section to section of the nest. This activity produces wood shavings mixed with parts of dead ants which provides clues to nesting locations.

Carpenter ants are NOT termites.  They do not feed off of wood, but rather eat people food that falls to the ground and they even feed off other insects!  Queen lays 9 to 16 eggs the first year and may live up to 25 years. Eggs complete their life cycle in about 6 to 12 weeks.  In addition to noticing wood shavings the final sign may be the “rustling” sound sometimes heard as the ants go about their activity in the home’s wood.

In controlling an infestation of carpenter ants, it is necessary to first find the nest. Once found, it can be removed or treated chemically. All moisture conditions that the ants found conducive must be corrected.  If treated early, carpenter ants are seldom responsible for serious structural damage to houses and buildings.  Do not wait for ants to gain a foothold in your home this year.  Contact A Complete Pest Solution serving Chicago’s western suburbs at (630) 464-1542.  There is only one type of “ant” that you want visiting this year and that’s your mother or father’s sister!

A Bitter Cold Winter Does Not Kill Off All The Bugs.

It is wishful thinking to believe that we in Chicago have been spared any bug infestation in 2015 because of the unusually harsh winter.  The truth is, bugs have an uncanny ability to survive (at least enough of them) to wreak havoc in the spring.

You would think that carpenter ants, termites, and beetles would just go away already and head south.  Many of these pests burrow into the bark of trees during the winter and find a way to survive until the weather moderates.  Bugs do something called “supercooling”.  They will actually purge all of their stomach contents that could potentially freeze.

In the final analysis an excellent pest control company can win the battle of the bugs.  There is no better in Chicago’s western suburbs than A Complete Pest Solution.  Before the infestation begins call them at (630) 464-1542 or visit them on the web at www.acompletepestsolution.com.

Battling Boxelder Bugs!

Boxelder bugs are one of the most common and widely distributed household pests in the Chicagoland area. These distinct red and black bugs are a nuisance to homeowners because they often gather in large numbers on the sides of buildings and on nearby ornamental plants and trees.

They enter homes through:
              open doors
              open windows
              through cracks around sills
              bellow siding

Do you have a boxelder tree in your yard?

These insects are hardy and can migrate great distances. It may not be practical to remove the trees in order to reduce their population for Boxelder bug control.

During spring Boxelder bugs can be seen emerging from hibernation sites. Females begin to lay eggs during April and May, depositing them around host trees. The development from egg to adult takes about 60 days.

Boxelder bugs have spent the winter in such places as:
              basements
              wall voids
              crawl spaces

Get a handle on this season’s boxelder infestation.  Call A Complete Pest Solution your western suburban bug exterminator at (630) 464-1542 today.  Boxelder Bugs BE GONE!

Bed Bug Infestation in Chicago

It's a distinction no city wants near its name: Number One In Bedbugs. The dubious honor goes to Chicago, which crept passed Cincinnati on an annual listing of cities with the most treatments for bed bug infestations.

One of the ways to combat the increase in the bed bug population is to be cautious when you travel. Bed bugs hide out in places other than the bedroom, including kitchens, bathrooms, movie theaters and airplanes.  The Chicago Tribune reports that cleanliness is not a factor in bed bug infestations, though clutter is.  Reduce clutter in your home to reduce hiding places for bed bugs.  Also vacuum frequently to remove any suspected hitchhikers.  These tiny pests are roughly the size of an apple seed when fully grown and are not easy to see.

If you have evidence of bed bugs in your home do not be ashamed.  Take action.  Call your Western Suburban bed bug exterminator, A Complete Pest Solution at (630) 464-1542.  Bed bugs BE GONE!
