Selecting the Best Pest Control Business for your Needs.

Check all of the boxes.  In the case of pest control, cheaper is not necessarily better.  Do they have a license that you can see?  Is their phone number listed?  Look at their website.  Here’s an idea…visit www.acompletepestsolution.com.  You should soon discover that they are the answer to your Chicago area pest control needs in 2019 and beyond.  Just call them at (630) 464-1542.

The History of Pest Control.

Controlling pests of all types goes back a long, long way.  Would you believe 4500 years?  That’s right, people began controlling insects with sulpher compounds around 2500 BC!  For a thousand years recorded history does not have much of an advance in this method.  Then around 1500 BC farmers began controlling planting dates to keep the bugs down.

A big year in pest control was 1880 when the first commercial spraying machine was introduced.  It was not until 1921 that airplanes were used to spray crops.  The 1940’s saw the dawn of the much-maligned DDT.  1972 was a watershed year as The Federal Environmental Pesticides Control Act passes. The USDA funds IPM research.

Fast forward to today.  Here at A Complete Pest Solution we use only the safest and most effective methods to control pests of all types around Chicagoland.  As a company we will continue to evolve and innovate in 2019 and beyond.  From our family at A Complete Pest Solution to yours have a very Merry Christmas and a pest-free New Year.

Making a Pest Control Plan.

You plan your expenses and project your income this time of year.  Did you factor in pest control, or did you think that those critters and winged warriors would stay away in 2019?  Of course, you know better than that!  What you could do is just wait for the invasion…or plan to fight it head-on with preventative maintenance.

Many, many Americans have year-round service for pest control.  Those in Chicagoland shouldn’t be surprised to know that homes in the north are hit harder by winter invading pests than those in the south.  Pests’ number one instinct is survival and they’ll do just about anything to find a place to overwinter and live to see another day.

If this makes sense to you, why not call Chicagoland’s leader in year-round pest control.  That name is A Complete Pest Solution located in Glendale Hts.  They travel throughout the Chicago area and would love to help keep your business or home pest free in 2019 and beyond.  Find out how practical a yearly pest control program is by calling (630) 464-1542.

Head’s Up…Winter is Coming and so are These Bugs.

Keep an eye out for these bugs –

1.  Ladybugs
2.  Stink bugs
3.  Woolly bear caterpillars
4.  Carpenter ants

No matter what season it is those multi-leg menaces are lurking in and around your castle.  You can always turn to us.  We are A Complete Pest Solution…Chicagoland’s complete pest control company.  We have battled every domestic pest for decades and hope that you will call on us anytime.  That’s A Complete Pest Solution at (630) 464-1542.

Veterans Day events for Chicago families

(Click the link above for more information)

"We’ve been honoring veterans for their service as a national holiday for almost 100 years now. This Veterans Day, it’s important for you and the family to think about it more than another day off of school. Here are some local events to help you honor these men and women."

Eeekers Everywhere.

Mice are not ready to disappear into wherever they go in the Winter around Chicagoland.  Here is the life of a mouse at the beginning of November.  If they are inside your house, they do not hibernate during cold seasons. They spend the winter actively foraging for food and seeking shelter.  Worse than that, they are thinking about reproduction!

Since seeds and grass are not readily available they seek food inside your abode.  Here are some of the tell-tale signs –

1.  Droppings that look like chocolate sprinkles.  Don’t let your toddler pick them up.
2.  Shredded paper.  It is good nest material.
3.  Chew marks in boxes, etc.
4.  Urine stains.  You probably have quite an infestation at this point.

Kurt and his team from A Complete Pest Solution hate mice as much as you do.  They serve no purpose in your castle.  So, let them rid you of these nasty creatures once and for all without harming the four-legged friends that dwell in your home.  If you have a mouse infestation in Chicagoland call A Complete Pest Solution at (630) 464-1542.

Rats in My Neighborhood…Really?

We usually think about rats as city pests. We picture them running in dark city alleys to reach their nests in broken foundations or they may be scurrying into burrows under dumpsters behind seedy restaurants.  Suburbia beware!  Rats have found their way out to us as well in Suburban Chicagoland.

Here is how suburban rats occur –

1.  Strip malls nearby with food courts
2.  A neighbor who has a lot of debris on their property
3.  Large numbers of dogs being boarded somewhere close
4.  Overflowing garbage
5.  Bird feeders

Rats are not exclusively urban dwellers anymore.  Just like you, they have found their way out to the ‘Burbs.  When you have a rat problem anywhere around Suburban Chicagoland the very first thing to do is call professional rat exterminator A Complete Pest Solution.  They will eliminate those dirty rats from your property.  That phone number is (630) 464-1542.

Field Mouse 101.

We don’t think that you will see this on the curriculum at Northwestern University.  Living in suburban Chicagoland has its perks.  There are many wide-open spaces with fields nearby.  Unfortunately, the countryside is a haven for field mice as well.  These are not house mice and differ in appearance and behavior.

Know your enemy!  Here are some tips to help rid your household of field mice –

1.  Set traps in appropriate and safe places.
2.  Seal up all entryways.
3.  In the end, hire a professional exterminator.

As to that last point, a field mouse’s worst nightmare (if they have them) in Chicagoland is A Complete Pest Solution.  They have provided safe and affordable field mouse, house mouse, and overall rodent control to Suburban Chicagoland for many years.  If you hear a squeak, don’t say EEEK!  Call A Complete Pest Solution at (630) 464-1542.

Rodents, Rodents Everywhere.

If it has not happened yet, it certainly will soon.  It is time for the annual mouse invasion as these nasty rodents seek shelter when Chicagoland’s weather changes.  Let’s be diligent and detect any sign of these pests before they storm the castle!  At A Complete Pest Solution, we want you to be aware of the signs of early mouse infestation.

Here are some of them –

1.  Droppings
2.  The scent of urine
3.  Holes that have been gnawed
4.  Runways and nests
5.  Noises

You may also notice that your beloved dog or cat is not behaving in a normal manner.  They tend to pick up on these things long before we do.  A Complete Pest Solution to the rescue!  We have been eliminating rodents in Chicagoland for many years and, hopefully we continue to be your first choice for mouse control.  Call us at (630) 464-1542

The Sting.

With apologies to the early 1970’s motion picture this sting may be far more impactful to you and your family.  Yellow jackets are very common at this time throughout Chicagoland. These are the 1/2-inch long, yellow and black banded wasps.  Many people refer to them as bees…which they are NOT!

Yellow jacket queens live in nests that are made of paper.  They construct these nests by scraping the surface wood off dead tree limbs and unpainted fences, mixing it with their saliva and applying it into place with their jaws.  There nests are similar to the bald-faced hornet which you would find hanging from a tree branch.

Whatever challenge that you have with winged predators this time of year there is one name to remember.  That is A Complete Pest Solution.  For more details on yellow jackets visit www.waspsolutions.net.  Kurt and his crew have removed unwanted invaders of every type for decades around Suburban Chicago.  Call him today at (630) 464-1542.

The Annual Paper Wasp Invasion.

That does not sound too scary…does it?  We know that a “paper tiger” is harmless, but not so much a paper wasp.  So, what is it anyway?  They are unsightly and WILL sting, believe me!  Their nests are found in overhangs and sheds throughout Chicagoland.  They are so-named because these nests are made of a gray paper-like material.

Paper wasps are considered beneficial because they assist in pollination and they control pest insect populations by feeding them to their larvae.  In spite of their ecological benefits, paper wasp nests should not be permitted to develop in or near your home.  Stings from paper wasps are extremely painful and may produce serious reactions to people who are allergic to the venom.

Fight back against a paper wasp invasion of your property.  Call the pros at A Complete Pest Solution.  And, for more information on the elimination of this and other summertime pests in our area visit www.waspsolutions.net.  Kurt and his team are at the ready to control the bee and wasp populations around your home.  Call today at (630) 464-1542.

Beware the Bald Faced Hornet.

It even sounds scary doesn’t it?  No one wants to get close enough to see its face anyway, but know this…it is possibly the most dangerous of all wasp breeds that annually invade Chicagoland.  The sting is exceptionally painful and in some of our Northern Illinois residents it can be a very serious health hazard!

So, what do they look like?  They are black and white striped.  What about their nest?  It looks like a large, ominous teardrop.  Where do you find the nest?  Look for it under the eaves of your home or, perhaps hanging from a tree.  It probably goes without saying but, for heaven’s sake DO NOT approach the nest!

At the first sign of this dangerous winged adversary please call us.  We are A Complete Pest Solution serving all of Chicagoland in the elimination of wasps and bees from your property.  Please visit www.waspsolutions.net for more details on a variety of winged summer invaders.  Give us a call for fast, guaranteed service at (630) 464-1542.

Say What? They Fly AND they Sting?

Yes they do!  They are the invaders that come to visit every summer…the ubiquitous wasp.  They are one of the most widely feared insects for a very good reason.  Wasps vary in aggressiveness and other behaviors, however, and only a few need to be feared.  Knowledge of their habits is the first step in reducing the fear of them.

A person sensitive to one kind of wasp sting will often be sensitive to other kinds of wasps.  That is not always true with bees.  The first thing you will notice (allergic or not) is local pain, swelling, redness and itching in most Chicagoans.  Some people will suffer symptoms that can include difficulty in breathing, dizziness and nausea.

All of this is no picnic for anyone in Chicagoland.  That’s why we have Kurt and his wasp control crew at www.waspsolutions.net.  As the name implies they have the solution to your wasp problem in the summer of 2018 and beyond.  Do NOT get involved in this sting!  Call A Complete Pest Solution now at (630) 464-1542.

Bee and Wasp Watch.

They may be enjoyable to watch on a Nat Geo special, but when they invade your space you need to take action!  It is imperative to protect your family from bee and wasp stings.  While this is done it is also vitally important to protect those invaluable pollinators from being killed in the process.  The world still REALLY needs them.

Did you know that annually more Americans are killed by bee and wasp stings than by snakes?  A major difference between bees and wasps as well as hornets is that hornets and yellow jackets as well as other wasps are responsible for very little pollination, but their stings are definitely potentially life-threatening.

For more information about their elimination from your property please visit www.waspsolutions.net.  We are A Complete Pest Solution protecting the populace of Chicagoland against those threatening stings.  We really DO have the solution to your pest control problems.  Please call us whenever we can be of service at (630) 464-1542.

Pest Review.

It’s nice to know who the multi-legged enemy may be this summer whether you have seen any yet or not.  Specific regions like Chicagoland are prone to a specific group of pests.  It is good to be educated as to the types that we might see here throughout the remainder of 2018.  Which ones are we most likely to encounter in the upper-Midwest?

Here are some of the most common –

1.  Ants…billions and billions of them all over the place.
2.  Spiders…a friend of man until they occupy your home.
3.  Bed bugs…they spread quickly and bite humans.
4.  Cockroaches…hiding out in dark places around your house.

There are many more, of course and they must be dealt with…or lived with.  The latter is NOT acceptable!  At the first sign of any unwanted critter you should know exactly what to do.  Call one of Chicagoland’s top exterminators.  That’s A Complete Pest Solution serving the suburbs of America’s second city for decades.  Keep this number handy (630) 464-1542.

Look…They are Wearing Yellow Jackets!

You would think that someone or something wearing a yellow jacket is there to help.  That is not the case with the annual warm-weather invaders with wings.  Please understand that yellow Jackets are small, compact wasps that are commonly mistaken for bees.  They tend to nest in walls, in attics, in sub area crawlspaces, in the ground, in trees, and under eaves.

Here is a note of caution…all over the counter sprays for yellow jacket control are highly repellent; so all they do is make the wasps very agitated.  Your chance of being stung goes up exponentially if you try to eradicate them by yourself.  Don’t try to be a hero!  Call a professional exterminator immediately.

We hope that by publishing this warning in early May you will be prepared.  Chicagoland’s yellow jacket exterminator pros are a phone call away.  They are A Complete Pest Solution proudly serving the Western Suburbs and beyond.  The first time you see one of these winged invaders please call (630) 464-1542.

If I was a Carpenter…

It is the beginning of a famous old song, but in this case it signifies the beginning of ant season in Chicagoland.  Carpenter ants are one of the most common household pests in the Midwest.  While they are obviously a nuisance indoors, these ants damage wood by hollowing it out to make nesting space.

Carpenter ants are also the largest pest ants in the United States.  The most common in our area is the black carpenter ant.  To help you identify this pest the typical adult, known as a “worker” ant, is black, wingless and varies from ¼- to ½-inch in length.  To be certain, look for the carpenter ant’s smoothly rounded thorax.

They probably won’t go away forever without professional help.  In the Western Suburbs of Chicagoland and throughout our area that comes with a phone call to Kurt.  He is the owner of Chicagoland’s ant control experts A Complete Pest Solution.  At the first sign of carpenter ants in your home call Kurt at (630) 464-1542.

What are Paper Wasps?

It sure seems harmless, doesn’t it?  I mean, how threatening could a paper wasp be?  Well, let’s take a look.  Paper wasps gather fibers from dead wood and plant stems.  They mix this with their saliva to construct water-resistant nests made of gray or brown papery material.  Sometimes they are called umbrella wasps.

The nests of most true paper wasps are characterized by having open combs with cells for bringing up their young.  Unlike yellow jackets or hornets, they generally only attack if they themselves or their nest are threatened.  So, the choice is yours…keep your distance ALL of the time or get rid of them!

As to the second point, why not call A Complete Pest Solution.  They are Chicagoland’s paper wasp control professionals.  Since their sting can not only be painful, but dangerous for some people it is best to remove them from your environment.  Call Kurt at A Complete Pest Solution at the first sign of paper wasps at (630) 464-1542.

Treating Wood Destroying Insects.

In nearly every case your mortgage lender will require that a wood destroying insect infestation inspection is completed on the property you wish to purchase prior to settlement.  This will insure that it does not have an active infestation or major structural damage from wood destroying insects.

Some examples are –

1.  Termites.  They have been around for hundreds of millions of years.
2.  Wood boring beetles.  There are several different varieties!
3.  Carpenter ants…easy to recognize being black or black and red.

If you are investing in a new castle you simply must have a thorough inspection for these and other creatures before you put your name on the bottom line.  The answer in suburban Chicagoland is A Complete Pest Solution.  A professional wood destroying insect detector will eradicate the problem before you move in.  Just call (630) 464-1542.

Tick, Tick, Tick.

Yes, the clock is ticking.  Warmer weather in Chicagoland will bring out the fleas and ticks before you know it.  Some ticks are notorious for carrying the bacterium that causes Lyme Disease in humans. Rest assured that the American Dog Tick is NOT one of them.  But remember, that does not make it entirely harmless either!

If you have not seen one, and we hope that you don’t, ticks are 8-legged arachnids though they are not spiders. They do not have wings and cannot fly, but they are adept at latching on to clothes, fur and hair that wisps past them within their reach.  The American Dog Tick will feed on just about any animal it can hook its legs onto.

It is just one of the many invaders that may be hanging around your property in the upcoming warmer weather.  Ticks, fleas, spiders, and many other creepy crawly things are set to invade your property.  When (or better yet before) they do, pick up the phone and call Kurt at A Complete Pest Solution, Suburban Chicago’s pest control experts at (630) 464-1542.
